About this place
One of the dishes that catches the eye on Waya’s menu is its signature udon gratin. It is an appealing choice if you fancy something beyond the usual izakaya fare; there is also mentaiko yaki udon, stir-fried udon with spicy cod roe.
Takana rice is listed as a long-running favourite, with the menu calling it a bestseller for 41 years. Diners have also described it as delicious. Other rice options include tekkadon, a bowl of rice topped with tuna, tarako rice bowls and rice balls. After sharing a few dishes, you can finish with rice, or make a rice bowl the centre of your meal.
Sake is another option to enjoy alongside the food. The menu lists Kokuryu junmai ginjo from Fukui and Shinkame junmai from Saitama, among others, and diners have mentioned unusual local sake and shochu. Waya welcomes both solo diners and groups, and accepts reservations. Payment is cash only.
